2008 Breeders Cup Picks

Race 2 Turf Sprint: California Flag - set the fastest 2F split of the last few Oak Tree meets, and set a course record last time. Many people don't like, but if doesn't bounce, at 15-1 is very dangerous. Diabolical is interesting - Godolphin always comes to win.

Race 3 - Dirt Mile: Surf Cat. 1 Mile is perfect for him and was almost even with Well Armed in the Goodwood at the 1 mile marker. Well Armed is certainly the main threat, but at the price, the play is Surf Cat.

Race 4 - Breeders Cup Mile: Top pick is Goldikova, the American contingent this year is so-so. Daytona is second choice. Kip Deville's last race wasn't inspiring.

Race 5 - Juvenile Males: Square Eddie ran a great race on the synthetic track at Keenland. Bushranger is very classy based on european numbers, and sometimes really good sprinters can stretch out to 1 1/16 miles. Has a shot, but top pick is Square Eddie.

Race 6 - Juvenile Turf Males: This one is one of the most obscure on the day, but the pick is Westphalia.

Race 7 - Sprint: Will take a chance on First Defence. Vosburgh effort was impressive, and Bobby Frankel doesn't usually run them on a surface if he thinks they won't take to the surface.

Race 8 - Turf: Soldier of Fortune finished 3rd in the Arc and unlike some other Arc runners of the past who tried the Breeders Cup, this one has had a very light campaign in 2008.

Race 9 - Classic: Colonel John. He loves the synthetic track, and think he is coming into this race well. At 20-1 ML, he could be the upsetter here.

Race 2 Picks: She's Cheeky. Ran the highest last GHR Number in the last two races.

Race 3 - Filly and Mare Sprint: Dearest Trickski, Tiz Elemental

Race 5 - Juvenile Fillies: Stardom Bound, Pursuit of Glory. Stardom Bound has the best numbers of the West Coast horses by far. Pursuit of Glory is unknown but this Europeans numbers appear to stack up.

Race 7 - Lady's Classic: Zenyatta, Carriage Trail Exacta Box. If Carriage Trail upsets Zenyatta, she should at least get second. The pick here is an exacta box with these two.

Race 9 - Doppio: Doppio. The best horse in terms of GHR Numbers.
