Del Mar Race Track - July 262008 R4Del Mar Based on a comparison of Beyer numbers with our own GiftHorseRacing Speed Figures, the only horses that seem quick enough to contend here are King City Kitty, Msty Aly, and Love Happens. Concettina's 74 Beyer Speed Figure received on 4/10 may actually be as low as 70, which is not quite enough. Msty Aly did run an 80 Beyer on 5/30, though she finished 3 3/4 lengths behind King City Kitty last time out, but the 80 Beyer I believe is accurate, so I am willing to give that one another chance, especially since she broke from the 11 post on 5/30 which surely cost her a length or two. Comparing her run last time against King City Kitty, she wasn't able to make her run quite as smoothly as King City Kitty, and ran evenly with that one in the stretch. She ran respectably, and at the 12-1 ML, I will take her as the value. King City Kitty is good, but prefer Msty Aly for the value. Love Happens appears to have the speed to contend but at 5/2 ML, will play only underneath in the Exacta. Win EXA
