I won’t address the two entrants that have never started a race, because I have found that unless you have clear inside information from the connections, it is really just guesswork.

What I can address is the favorite, Wiredfortwotwenty. Despite the fact that he will be the most heavily bet horse (7/5 ML), there are two things to like. The 86 Beyer Speed Figure received for his debut on 6/7 has been determined by GiftHorseRacing Speed Figures to correspond closer to a 92, which is almost 3 lengths better.

Secondly, Yankee Station who finished 1 ¾ behind him last time out came back to win a 62K Md Sp Wt on 6/28 by 1 ½ lengths, indicating that Wiredfortwotwenty’s effort came among a particularly solid bunch.

In Yankee Station’s maiden victory on 6/28, finishing 1 ¾ lengths behind him was a horse named Star Time who finished 2 lengths in front of a contender in this race, More Humor, on 5/26. Given that fact and that More Humor seems to be hovering around the 80 Beyer range and not moving forward, it is less likely he will take that leap forward needed to win this. He is 3-1 ML but I am going to stand against.

Neither Honouramongfriends nor Mr. Chips (4-1 and 8-1, respectively) have shown the numbers needed to beat Wiredfortwotwenty. Furthermore, Honouramongfriends was beaten 3 ¼ lengths by More Humor, who I have already elected to stand against.

As Todd T. Schrupp of TVG Network would say, I am being Captain Obvious, but I think even money or better is a good price.
