Jack o' Lantern Upsets Hollywood Prevue
By Profitus Maximus Posted November 24, 2008 Despite having only a maiden claming win to his credit, it was clear at the 3/8ths pole of the Hollywood Prevue that Jack o' Lantern belonged with this group. Jack o' Lantern was moving so easily as they approached the far turn that unless the spectator had consulted the toteboard beforehand, one would never have thought that this horse went off at 19-1 odds. Jack o' Lantern was easily the longest shot in the field, and returned $41.80 on a $2 wager. He got a perfect trip as he stalked the frontunners down at the rail. As they turned into the stretch, room opened up down at the rail and he got a clean run. The only threat came late from even money favorite Azul Leon, the son of the 2003 Prevue winner Lion Heart, who was flying at the 1/16 pole but ran out of ground. Second choice Backbackbackgone lacked the needed bid and finished three lengths back in 5th place. The final time was 121.89.
