7/23/2010 DMR Race 4 : Plantsite He had a troubled trip last time, but now he gets the outside and should get a clear trip. Plus gets Bejarano and he should get an extra length out of him.

7/16/2010 HOL Race 7 : Warren's Got Game Has only had one start, and won it at 80-1 odds. Think his Beyer might be a touch understated, and is good value for his 5-1 ML.

Result: Finished 4th

6/20/2010 Mike Lee Stakes (Belmont Race 9) : Friend or Foe Usually don't give out Belmont picks, but this horse won his statebred allowance so easily last time, coming home his final 1/8 really fast and did it so easily.

Result: Finished 1st by 2 1/2 lengths.

6/9/2010 Race 7 (Cinderella Stakes) : Hi Ho Yodeler This is a race for very young 2-year old fillies, and Hi Ho Yodeler looks like the one to beat despite being second choice on the morning line. She is 3-1 whereas her stable mate Swiss Wild Cat is 5/2. She ran faster at the same distance than that one, and ran a faster last 1/16 of a mile in the same type of race.

Result: Finished 4th.

4/11/2010 Race 7 : James Prior He looks as good as the favorite Scottish Diamond, and get 5-1 on the ML and an outstanding trainer in Vladmir Cerin. I think Orientation Hall is going to be overbet (3-1 ML). I do think Scottish Diamond losing to Orientation Hall last time is an aberration and think he will probably turn the tables on that one. James Prior is the likely better value over Scottish Diamond though.

Result: Finished 6th.

4/10/2010 Race 7 : Cape Truth GHR speed figures tell me that he is as good as the 5/2 Charm N' Chuck at the rail, but Cape Truth is 8-1 ML and will be a much better price.

Result: Cape Truth finished 2nd at 8-1, longest price in the field.

4/3/2010 Race 6 (The Santa Anita Derby) : Caracortado Think that Lookin at Lucky is going to be way overbet. His synthetic numbers aren't all that impressive, and that is what he will be racing over in the SA Derby. At 4/5 ML he is a play against. Caracortado has only lost once in his life, and he is very game. Sidney's Candy is the second choice. Don't be shocked if 50-1 Thomas Baines finishes in the money.

Result: Finished 4th after "steadied past 5/16ths".

4/3/2010 Race 8 (The Potrero Grande) : E Z's Gentleman He and Ventana look pretty close but you'll get better odds on E Z's Gentleman. Gato Go Win looks tough but he must repeat that last effort.

Result: Finished close third at 6-1, beaten only 3/4 of a length.

4/1/2010 Race 4 : Laser Point Think he is the one to beat here, prefer him over Joe Carl. Egypt has a shot if he is on form, and might get a nice price on that one.

Result: Laser Point finished 2nd.

3/31/2010 Race 5 : Uncle Don Feel he will put away Indianski, and Gray Zulu is good but needs to improve a few lengths to win. If Gray Zulu steps forward, he has a chance, but I will bet on Uncle Don to take them wire to wire. There is alot of speed here, so that's the only danger....

Result: Uncle Don finished 1st.

3/13/2010 Race 9 San Felipe : Dave in Dixie He was coming at Caracortado at the end of the Robert B. Lewis last month, whereas American Lion was backing up. This long striding horse looks like he might be getting good and may have needed that last race. Think he can turn the tables on Caracortado.

Result: Dave in Dixie finished 6th.

2/6/2010 Race 8 (Robert B. Lewis Stakes) : Caracortado. Undefeated 4 4 4 and all three of the horses that have finished second to him in his last three races won their next race. Tiz Chrome looks tough and American Lion has that enormous stride, but they will be short prices that Caracortado if you can get the 6-1 ML he is the best play. He won at todays distance, something you can't say about the two morning line favorites. Not that it means much, but Macias (8-1 ML) will not win.

Result: Race rescheduled to 2/13/10 Race 6: Caracortado finished 1st.

Result: Laser Point finished 1st.

1/30/2010 Race 6 (The Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Sprint): Dubai Majesty This horse is perfect for the 6 furlongs of today's race. It is clear when she runs 7 furlongs or she tires a little in the final 1/16 of a mile. She is coming off of a layoff, but if she is ready, she is the one to beat (4-1 ML).

Result: Dubai Majesty finished second (by a nose)

Result: Wicked Style finished out of the money. He was blocked in mid-stretch.

1/27/2010 Race 2: Toro Trippi. Outraced Ministers Altarboy last time, and gets a jockey upgrade to Espinoza. Ministers Altarboy finished 1 1/2 lengths behind Toro Trippi last out, and had Bejarano aboard.

Result: Toro Trippi finished 1st.

Factoid: Free House (1994-2004) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse, perhaps best known for his rivalry with 1997 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Silver Charm. A four-time champion, Free House was 1997-98 California Horse of the Year and a champion 3-year-old male and older male. Free House died July 19, 2004 after falling and hitting his head.
