Race 2 Picks: Bigum. According to our GHR Numbers, this one, Roadside Rest and Saxophone are actually pretty close in ability, so this one isn't a slam dunk, but Bigum seems to the fastest and has the best trainer. Saxophone may provide good win value also if he goes off at close to his 8-1 ML. Race 5 Picks: Swiss Lad. Though 15-1 on the ML, the route effort at Fairplex on 9/14 was very solid according to his GHR Number and can be competitive for the win if he can translate that effort to the pro ride surface. Clarence Beeks and Smoocher are also threats and would consider boxing those two, but Swiss Lad is the pick for the win. Race 7 Picks: Time to Say Goodbye. This horses' GHR Number is the best of the field, and if the horse that showed up 8/28 at Del Mar shows up and the jockey can get a reasonably clean trip, this horse is the one to beat. Top jockey's Gomez and Bejarano are in this field so there is always a danger but at 7/2, this one has good enough value to justify a win bet. Pick of the day. Race 8 Picks: Toro Bonito. Alpha Kitten looks about as strong in terms of the numbers, although Alpha Kitten did hop at the start in his first race. Toro Bonito won't be the 8-1ML listed, especially with the A+ connections Bejarano and Baffert, but will offer better value than Alpha Kitten and worth as shot. Would use underneath in an exacta with Alpha Kitten as an alternative.
